God is Love

"...God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us." - Romans 5:5, ESV.

Let love change your life. Would you like to be patient, kind, unselfish, not irritable or resentful, filled with faith and hope? I know, it sounds too good to be true. Impossible, you say. Certainly, you're right, unless we experience God's love. Read 1 Corinthians 13:4-6,13. All of these things come only through a life of love.

Our lives can be changed by receiving the love of God. To receive Jesus Christ is to receive the love of God. Religion without love is judgmental, unkind and mean spirited. Jesus taught that others would know that we are his disciples because we love one another.

Our lives can be changed by being filled with the love of God. This is called the Spirit filled life. Paul prays for believers to be filled with the Spirit in Ephesians 3, which means to be filled with the fulness of God's love. Let us pray that God will fill us with his love.

Our lives can be changed by confessing as sin every thought, word and deed that was unloving. Jesus taught that all the commandments of God are fulfilled in one word,
love.

The Bible says, "God is love." When we walk and talk with him, his love changes our lives. Love can change your life.

Living the Abundant Life

Jesus said,"I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." - John 10:10,ESV.

It is God's will that we have an abundant life. This does not mean that all of us should be wealthy in this world's goods nor have everything that we want. It means
that we have an enjoyable relationship with God. Life is relationships and the most enjoyable relationship should be one with God and his son, Jesus Christ.

What is life? It's relationship with God. Jesus made this clear in John 17:3 as he prayed to his Father.
"This is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent."
To know God through Jesus Christ is
the abundant life. He wants us to enjoy him forever!

The abundant life is more than religion. As a matter of fact, religion can become nothing more than meaningless rituals or bondage to rules. God wants us to enjoy him! He wants us to delight in him.

The abundant life is a personal relationship with God. As the shepherd knew his sheep by name, they knew his voice and followed him. The sheep were not without a shepherd to lead them, guard them, feed them and care for them. Jesus uses this as an illustration of the abundant life in John 10.

The abundant life is a faith relationship with God. We can trust him regardless of the circumstances. After all, he is with us and knows how to lead us. Faith is trust in the Lord regardless of what comes our way. Without such faith, there can be no personal relationship with the Lord. Jesus said to religious people who had no personal relationship with him
,"You do not believe because you are not part of my flock" [John 10:26].

Live the abundant life now.

Christ set us free from sin

Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed," John 8:36,NJKV.

Why is sin such a bad word, it is something we were born into. Romans 3:23 " for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God". Now, I and my friend Jayme Ringer, I can't use her real name on my blog but lets just call her Jayme Ringer. We were having a discussion about one of America's mega-churches, let's just say in Houston. Where they can't use the word sin and if they do they will be escorted off premise. After "Jayme" and I had some kicks with this " she replied " let me at them". We are all sinners and need Jesus Christ for our salvation. I then told her listen I am serious they will escort you out and she replied " well let them just try". I am a sinner and Jesus Christ died for my sins and by His grace I am saved.

You know, brothers and sisters I think somewhere perhaps over the last couple of decades, some preachers have missed the mark. Albiet, I am strong on a victorious life in Jesus Christ but let's look at the Apostle Paul and the mega-church leaders today.

Paul himself states that he sins "For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice, but what I hate, that I do," Romans 7:15. Now,other than Jesus there is no one in the Bible than I admire more than Paul. Why some may ask because I would like to see some of our Mega-Church leaders get out of their multi-million dollar incomes and house's to have this kind of "victorious life" that Paul led.

...In labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft. Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one. Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness. Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches" (2 Corinthians 11:23-28).

"
We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; (2 Corinthians 4:8-9). Paul's life and ministry were filled with tremendous hardship, but his attitude remained confident and resisted defeat. "...Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians15:57)

Well, I for one am not going to run for this new book "Your Best Life Now", why have we become so self centered? I am going to read my Bible and read Pauls book " Live Your Best Life For Christ Now". It seems like our best preachers are teaching us self this and self that instead of selflessness.
Mt 19:27-30; Mk 10:28-31]:'''Peter answered him, "We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?" Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother[a] or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.
But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first."

Jesus spoke to people who thought that they were free, however they were in bondage to sin. Outside of Christ, we are all in the bondage of sin. Only Jesus Christ can set us free. He paid the price for our sins at the cross. He died and was raised from the dead. The power of God which raised him from the dead is the same power that sets us free.
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes," Romans 1:16.

Christ sets us free from the condemnation of sin. The guilt and shame of sin is a heavy load. Christ sets us free from all condemnation. He paid the price for all of our sins. It is paid in full.
"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus," Romans 8:1.

Christ sets us free from the power of sin. Paul testifies of his struggle to be free from the power of sin in Romans 7. "For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice, but what I hate, that I do," Romans 7:15. The power of sin is strong. The Spirit of Christ is stronger! "The Spirit of life in Christ....made me free from the law of sin.." Romans 8:2. The Spirit of Christ works within us to set us free.

Christ sets us free from the wages of sin. "The wages of sin is death," Romans 3:23. The word death means separation. Physical death is the separation of body and soul. The second death is eternal separation from God,
Revelation 20:15. Christ sets us free from the fear of death and hell. Nothing can "separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord," Romans 8:39.

Father, I thank you for forgiven a sinner like me, in Jesus name. Amen

Light in the Dark

GOD IN MY LIFE
(A Christian Testimony by Praveen Frederick. W)
Beginnings

I was born in August 03,1967 in Trivandrum in South India. By the ‘Grace of God’ , I was born and brought up in a traditional Christian family. My grand- father was a Christian worker and it will be self- esteeming myself if I narrate his position here. Both my parents brought me up in close association with our mother church ‘Mateer Memorial Church’ in Trivandrum. I attended Sunday School, Christian Endeavour youth Fellowship and Boys Christian Literary Union in our Church. Further more, I also attended the Vacation Bible School during summer holidays. I first accepted ‘Jesus Christ’ as my saviour in the end of 1970’s in a V. B. S. I first felt the powerful touch of God when I was in the 8th standard. I had to switch over to another city high school since I could not cope with the teaching in one school. I prayed to ‘God’ powerfully that I will serve ‘God’ if the change was made. God made the switch over positive and it enabled me to complete my studies successfully up to Post-Graduation Level.

During the end of 1980’s I had a strong calling to serve among disabled children, which happened during one Sunday morning, service in M.M. Church. Some Polio affected children were sitting in, wooden pews ahead of me and ‘God’ showed me one face and urged me to start a career among disabled children. I applied for a Special Education Teacher’s Training Course and almost got selected when my father’s untimely and sudden demise upset my plans. ‘God’ Showed my place of work in Church of South India, South Kerala Diocese which was then under the able leadership of Rt. Rev. Dr. Samuel Amirtham, Former Bishop, C.S.I SKD. I worked as an accountant in his office for 4 years and was deputed to work in Scotland, for Scottish Churches World Exchange. I went as an International Volunteer and was placed as Natural Resource Worker in Orbiston Neighbour hood Centre, Bells hill near Glasgow.

IONA MIRACLE

The second miracle in my life happened in Isle of Iona in Scotland which is the same place from where Christanity took its orgin into United Kingdom. Iona is a small, remote island which consists of an ancient abbey. I stayed there for almost 7 days and the miracle happened in a pilgrimage. The full pilgrimage is actually a fast walk extending to about 8 hours through beaches, marshy areas and climbing. I finished the pilgrimage successfully without any accident and after finishing he hard walking and climbing felt no strain on my body & mind. I felt as fresh as ever in the evening. Otherwise I would have felt body pain and joint pain. Iona still creates in me nostalgic memories and returning to Glasgow after being in Iona for some days, I felt very depressed and did not move out of my flat for 2 days. Being in that Holy Island was just like being in a familiar place where you have been for a long time. I still carry that miracle and the picture of Iona in my mind even after 11 years.

My life was in a very turbulent phase during the mid months of 1996. I was very depressed and one late evening I had the vision of Holy spirit ascending from heaven in dove form in a ray of light. I was protected by my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ once more and I returned back to normal life once again with renewed strength.

JANUARY 2007

I am narrating below the wonderful miracle which our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ has bestowed upon me in the early part of 2007.

Although, I am a healthy, male in the late 30’s I go for periodical check-ups for Blood-sugar and Blood Pressure. Somehow, I missed the check-up in the end of 2006, and God was urging in my mind for a check-up. I went for the check-up on January 06, 2007 (Saturday) in D.D.R.C Ulloor. The blood sugar result revealed an alarming reading of 205 mg after taking breakfast. My otherwise healthy body was running on a high level of blood sugar. My younger brother who is involved in the medical field did not accept this reading and insisted on another blood test on January 07, 2007 (Sunday) in another lab. The next day blood sugar level was still showing the alarming figure. We were perplexed since my body had no trace of blood sugar 6 months back.

On the evening of January 06, 2007 my right leg met with a scooter accident in which I received a stunning blow on the middle of the right leg. There was a small bruise on that part. At about 10.30 p.m in the night, while I was taking rest after bath reading a news paper, I began to feel severe pain on the right leg. I visited the nearly ‘ Santhwana Hospital’ and requested for doctor examination. The duty doctor inspected the wound and gave me a ‘Tetanus Injection’ and some tablets.

Four days passed, and the pain on my right leg got worse. I could not put strain on the right leg to the ground. I went to the ‘Jubilee Hospital’ in Trivandrum where a young duty doctor gave me antibiotics. Even after taking the strong dose of antibiotics the pain never ceased and there was now a slight inflammation around the wound. After finishing the strong dose of antibiotics, I visited the hospital where the duty doctor advised me to see the Surgeon.

The next day after taking the blood sugar level, my mind was in severe turmoil and anguish. I was doing ‘God’s work during the last 16 years and my mind cried Why me? Why me? I returned home crest fallen. I prayed and prayed. I cried to the Lord why is this happening to me? Why? I went to bed with a heavy heart.

At about 2.30 am in the morning, I had a vision of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ standing near my bed and touching my wounded leg with his nail pierced hands. Suddenly an everlasting peace came upon me. The next day, I rushed to the Hospital to see the Surgeon after taking blood sugar level test. The test level showed my blood sugar level as 97 mg. Immediately I telephoned my brother Prasanth Frederick to show my test result. He was astounded. How can the sugar level be normal again without taking any medicines. He immediately ordered instant ‘Gluco-Meter’ check for on the spot result. The reading was the same normal figure. My body had no trace of blood sugar. I went for the consultation with Dr. Angel (Surgeon) fearing the worst. God performed another healing right there itself. She did not even touch my leg but advised some local ‘Betadine’ application and a dose of antibiotics. After 3 or 4 days, my leg was as good as ever. I praised ‘God’ for 2 miracles in my life and healing in my body. (My blood sugar level has remained normal after that day) inspite of repeated tests without taking any medicines.

Do you ever doubted whether our Living ‘God’ performed miracles only in historic times? No, He is Truly Alive Today and will be alive Tomorrow.

I had prayed to ‘God’ that I will attend the Diocesan Convention in the end of January 2007 if my leg heals. My leg was healed and I attended the Diocesan convention and praised ‘God’. Our ‘God’ hears the prayer of lay men too.

Witnessing the Mighty Power of God

During the last months of 2006, personally I was in a very sad state. Financial problems, family relationships was very worse and I was very broken. My mind was repeatedly questioning God’s existence. I can never forget that Sunday evening when I was travelling in my scooter and thinking about my problems. I was traveling near Kowdiar junction in my home city when I spat 3 times on the voad thinking about the face of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I spit 3 times and asked out aloud Where Arc you ? Where Are you ? Oh God ? Returning back from that trip, my scooter met with a fatal accident. I was returning home on a holiday mood road with no exceptional traffic. I was nearing the ‘Narmada Junction’ when something hit my scooter from behind with a huge force. My scooter began to rocket forward without control. To my horror, I saw on old man clad in white in the way of my scooter. I could not apply the brakes nor I could do anything. The old man was looking at me helplessly. Then suddenly as if by some force the scooter slowly came to a stand still. A Miracle ! Some one held the scooter yards in front of the old man and I did not even fell to the ground. My body shaking, I looked back at what had happened. A red Maruthi car had hit the scooter from behind. The driver was gasping at me in horror and in the front passenger seat was his wife who had pushed her face into her lap not to see my fate. I was saved and the old man. I emerged out of the accident scene without even a small scratch. The incident was a reminder that ‘God’ protects us like anything even if we rebel against him and question his existence.

Casting out plaster

On June 10, 2007 (Sunday) my left toe got fractured owing to another scooter accident. My toe was in plaster and I could barely walk. Dr. Samson Nessiah put the plaster on and I was advised not much movement of the feet. It was one of the darkest days in my life. My toe was in plaster when I required much movement. Audit time, finalization of accounts and it was heavy monsoon time here in South India. My worst fear was whether I would be able to walk again normally. I prayed and prayed and held to ‘God’. The plaster was to be taken after one month and I slowly began to count the days towards the release date of my leg. On the previous day when my plaster was to be removed I saw a vision of burning cross falling upon me. In sleep I saw clearly a burning cross falling upon me. The next day the doctor removed my plaster and upto this date after nearly 4 months it is fine as ever and I am doing ‘Gods’ work with that leg.

My Sons’ Accident

During April 2007,my son was proud of the blue bicycle his grand father had bought for him and used to travel at high speeds in his new cycle. On the way to our house there is a foundation for a wall full of large granite stones. One early summer evening, I was inside the house when there was silence from outside where my son was cycling. To my horror, I saw his blue cycle on the ground and ‘William lying on the top of the large granite stones. Rushing to the scene, I found him knocked breathless on top of some curving short edged granite stones. He was shell shocked, other wise he was okay. His cycle had lit a stone on the path and he was knocked without control on to the rocks. He escaped unhurt. It was a great miracle which God’ showered on us. On medical examination he was pronounced alright by the Doctor.

Conclusion

The greatest peace known to mankind is God’s presence and comfort. I am a person who has known everything in life. Games, Movies, Music, Picnics ,Travelling, Occult, Pleasures of life but none of these are everlasting peace giving. Instead the above things in life give you restlessness and fears. The only Answer is ‘God’.

The greatest experience for me in this Earth is the power and fulfillment, I felt when I preached in a village church called ‘Kachani. Gods’ word is Power, Mighty Power.

CANDLE – LIGHT MINSTRIES

God make my life a little light

Within the world to glow;

A little flame that burns bright

Wherever I may go.

God make my life a little flower

That gives joy to all;

Content to bloom in native bower

Although the place be small.

God make my life a little song

That comforts the sad;

That helps others to be strong

And makes the singer glad.

God make my life a little staff

Whereon the weak may rest;

That so what health and strength I have

May serve my neighbours best. Amen
