Ezekiel 37, The Valley of dry bones.

My dearest friend in Jesus, Stephanie Alfred, came back from a revival in downtown Scarborough in Tobago. She immediately called me to wake me up, as she always does when the Lord gives her a message. She was so excited about the preacher’s topic

“Prophesy to these old bones and breathe life into them”

Now, I know the old hymn we used to sing at Church many years ago and the scripture in Ezekiel she was referring to but she was so fired up to give me the message and I must confess as we follow this blog, how many mighty things happened to me because of the message delivered to her.

Dem bones, dem bones, dem dry bones, now hear, the the word of the Lord.

Now let us take a fresh look at this my friend, get fired up, as we are in for a great journey of faith.

Ezekiel 37:1-14
The hand of the LORD came upon me, and he brought me out by the spirit of the LORD and set me down in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. 2He led me all round them; there were very many lying in the valley, and they were very dry. 3He said to me, ‘Mortal, can these bones live?’ I answered, ‘O Lord GOD, you know.’ 4Then he said to me, ‘Prophesy to these bones, and say to them: O dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. 5Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones: I will cause breath* to enter you, and you shall live. 6I will lay sinews on you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath* in you, and you shall live; and you shall know that I am the LORD.’
7 So I prophesied as I had been commanded; and as I prophesied, suddenly there was a noise, a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone. 8I looked, and there were sinews on them, and flesh had come upon them, and skin had covered them; but there was no breath in them. 9Then he said to me, ‘Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, mortal, and say to the breath:* Thus says the Lord GOD: Come from the four winds, O breath,* and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.’ 10I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood on their feet, a vast multitude.
11 Then he said to me, ‘Mortal, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They say, “Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are cut off completely.” 12Therefore prophesy, and say to them, Thus says the Lord GOD: I am going to open your graves, and bring you up from your graves, O my people; and I will bring you back to the land of Israel. 13And you shall know that I am the LORD, when I open your graves, and bring you up from your graves, O my people. 14I will put my spirit within you, and you shall live, and I will place you on your own soil; then you shall know that I, the LORD, have spoken and will act, says the LORD.’

Then we will see those valley of dry bones come to life !. For nothing is impossible for God. But what made these dry bones come to life “obedience” even though it took God twice to pound the message into Ezekiel.

Now, I knew this scripture well as, I am fascinated by the love of Christ even during the “end times” , for all to be saved। The literal interpretation of Ezekiel is that it is a prophecy of Israel’s restoration. But that does not exhaust the meaning of this book by any means. This entire story can be applied not only to Israel’s history and future, but to our own lives in an intensely practical way. What God is doing on a large scale in the world, He is also ready to do on the intimate scales of your life.

God wants to call the dry bones of your empty existence together and breathe life into your soul. He wants to reverse the process of degradation and disintegration in your life and heal you by the grace of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit. In addition to salvation, the forgiveness of sins, and the gifts of eternal life, God wants us all to experience abundant life every day!
Through this passage, God invites us to experience the glorious ideal manhood and womanhood that He intended for us from the very beginning of creation। He wants you to rise up and walk with His power, alive and energized by His Spirit, conquering His enemies by His arm of strength, showing fourth His power by the way we live our lives.

No, sooner than I hung up the phone and regained awareness, I re-read the scripture। I laid in my bed, arms raised towards heaven and prophesied to the dried up area’s in my life and with the aid of The Holy Spirit I literally inhaled and exhaled and breathed life into those area’s in my life. The result was almost instant and I Praise the Lord, to rise up and walk with His power, alive and energized by His Glorious Spirit.

As, this is a blog, if you want to hear this great testimony just email me and I will be happy to share this great moment in Christ with you.
